Why a Bronze Valve?

Here is a comparison between
a Bronze Gate valve and a Cast Iron Swing Check valve

The 2 valves were installed on the water mains entering our factory
since 2005.
The Bronze Gate valve manufactured by Valvomec, was controlling our supply…
The Cast Iron Swing Check valve was installed by the water utility company.

Ten years later when we checked both valves Valvomec Bronze Gate valve, with the exception of a light oxidation common to bronze, n, did not show any build-up of deposits on the internal surface, the sealing seat was completely clean and guaranteeing a perfect sealing, the handwheel opening/closing operation could still be properly performed.

The seal is perfectly guaranteed, and then the Bronze Valve is able to perfectly perform its fluid shutoff function.

Ten years later the internal surface of the Cast Iron Swing Check valve showed a big build-up of deposits and the hinged disc was completely blocked.

So the Cast Iron Swing Check valve was not able anymore to perform its function of preventing a water back-flow.

Quality, Health and Savings

When we chose a valve we consider the fluid controlled and, in our case, the water quality expected at the point of use.
It is down to us to understand where the true savings are.

We can keep, preserve and not contaminate the quality of water
and we can avoid water waste and leakages:

at Valvomec, for our customers, in our homes, for our tap water and for our health
the Valves are only in BRONZE

Evalutation of the real costs

The two valves have very different costs; the Cast Iron valve can be 70% cheaper than the Bronze valve
but trying to save money at the end proved to be a mistake….

How much water was wasted by the malfunctioning cast iron valve? and at what costs?
How much water was wasted by the malfunctioning cast iron valve and at what costs? Is it acceptable and sustainable for our health that the drinking water through our very beautiful and expensive designer taps is controlled and contaminated by this type of valves?

To choose a BRONZE valve is a conscious choice affecting also our Health and Quality of Life
